MY MOST RECENT COMPETITION : SATURDAY AUGUST 5, 2006. Toronto, Canada

Part of the CBBF World Championships Competitive Stream, qualifying competitors for the IFBB World Championships. The IFBB World Championships is the highest competitive level for natural bodybuilding in the world.

Results:

Grandmasters (Age 50-59): 2nd Place
Open Welterweight: 2nd Place

My conditioning at this competition was significantly improved compared to the OPA contest in June, notwithstanding the 2nd place finish. In reality, it was a close contest according to many of those I spoke with after the show. My rival and I went through the morning compulsories. Given there were only two of us, the prejudging did not take long (always a bonus).

In the evening the routine went well, with all of the tips from my coach manifesting well. I had chosen the music from the opening credits of Star Trek Deep Space Nine, very majestic orchestral music reminiscent of Aaron Copland. It was nice to be out there sweeping into the poses. When it was announced that I had come 2nd, the overriding feeling was a sense of accomplishment on this great day. At the age of 52 I was in the best shape of my life.

Pictures will be posted soon. In the meantime, check FORUM for news and updates.

OTHER NEWS

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. A book is in the works.

Tentatively entitled "The Vegetarian Bodybuilder" (what a suprise), it will explore the facts and debunk the fiction regarding the vegetarian diet from health and fitness points of view, as well as examine methods of weight training and related dieting - from a vegetarian perspective of course. I've been working on the book for some time, and hope to have the manuscript finished by the end of the summer. If you would like to make a suggestion regarding content, please feel free to do at our forum, where we have a section designated for that purpose.
